The role of the Security Installation Technician is to provide installation and basic technical labor on projects according to plans and specifications and directions from Project Manager or Technical Supervisor.

Paid in accordance with local union rates.

This position is collectively bargained and all benefits are provided by the union.

• Install low voltage wire and devices for systems sold by SS
• Follow directions from the Technical Supervisor and Project Manager
• Alert Senior Technical Supervisor and/or Project Manager to any changes or obstacles that could impede the scope of work as defined by the project
• Attend meetings as required
• Troubleshoot problems with equipment or wiring as called for in project or T&M scopes of work
• Stay familiar with installation materials and control devices; their function, use, and proper mounting & installation
• Work independently and coordinate job installation and completion with onsite personnel, while seeking guidance before starting unfamiliar tasks
• Attend training functions as necessary
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ year of installation experience
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
• High value placed on quality of workmanship, attention to detail, and safe work practices for self and others
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment is crucial
• Experience working both independently and in a team
• Must have basic hand tools for the electrical industry; small cordless tools a plus
• Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
• Ability to travel for the purpose of meeting with owners or off‑site personnel/management.
• Comfortable working at heights
• Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients and other departments
• Adept at conducting research into project‑related issues and products

• Knowledge of basic electricity such as AC/DC theory, Ohm’s law, ability to read and understand a digital volt/ohm meter a plus
• Strong customer service skills a plus
