Job Functions:
Purpose
Support the fabrication division of Nucor Rebar Fabrication with machine repair, maintenance and troubleshooting. Assist the safety team in the design, development and/or installation of machine guards and safety devices. Advise Branch Manager in machine purchasing and installation.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Must Adhere to Nucor Rebar Fabrication safety programs and OSHA safety standards
- Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication mission statement.
- Perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and optimum functioning equipment, systems, and processes.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Develop and maintain visual standards, checklists, and simple inspection routines that empower operators to own first‑level maintenance.
- Maintain and grow the critical spare parts list to ensure availability of essential components while supporting Lean inventory principles.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and modify equipment to maintain workplace safety and production efficiency.
- Generate parts lists and labor time estimates for maintenance and repairs.
- Train key shop teammates on new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment.
- Maintain repair records.
- Perform other duties as required by your supervisor.
- Minimum two years’ experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Minimum two years’ experience in electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be familiar with OSHA safety standards.

- Communication Skills – Ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicate information so that others understand.
- Electrical Knowledge – Knowledge of basic electrical theory, including basic troubleshooting, installation, repair and/or maintenance of electronic equipment.

- Occupational Safety – Uses knowledge of equipment, policies, procedures, and judgment to determine compliance with laws and regulations and to continuously improve processes for safety.
- Mechanical Knowledge – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair and/or maintenance.
- Problem Solving – Identifies problems, analyzes related information, develops options, evaluates solutions, and implements improvements.
- Teamwork – Works collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal.
- Time Management – Manages one's own time and/or the time of others.
- Two‑year technical degree from an accredited school or college.
- Training in electrical controls, welding, mobile crane operation and rigging.
- Experience installing and programming electrical safety devices.
- Two years’ experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Two years’ experience in electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams.
- Familiar with OSHA safety standards.
- Ability to work as part of a team and achieve a common goal.
- Demonstrated communication skills necessary to coordinate teammates and schedule repairs or maintenance.
