About the Role
This role provides support for high vacuum equipment used in PVD and related robotics. The engineer will perform field service duties in customer clean rooms, including troubleshooting, installations, and on‑call technical support. The position requires full‑time presence at assigned sites and may require off‑shift work.
Your Impact- Monitor, inspect, set up, calibrate, and maintain semiconductor process equipment to prevent downtime.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and implement solutions.
- Collect data for software‑related problems and discuss findings with headquarters in Japan.
- Document all maintenance activity and provide detailed field service reports.
- Install equipment control software and maintain record of software revision history.
- Participate in on‑site installations at customer locations.
- Monitor inventory of service parts and equipment to ensure adequate supplies for repairs.
- Provide training and assistance to customer engineering teams.
- Communicate effectively with customers, Canon USA, and Canon‑Anelva Japan employees.
- Escalate serious or complicated repair problems to senior team members.
The Skills & Expertise You Bring
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required; bachelor’s preferred.
- 1–2 years of related experience (2–3 years for non‑degree candidates).
- Experience with multi‑chamber cluster systems and robotics highly preferred.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings for troubleshooting.
- Experience with PLC and other software applications is a plus.
- Analytical problem‑analysis and resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently after 3–6 months of on‑the‑job training.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; up to 25% car, air, and overnight travel required.
- Open to international travel for training.
- Ability to lift approx. 50 pounds.
- Strong communication skills; bilingual (Japanese/English) is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible, compressed shifts and 12‑hour day shifts on a 3‑ or 4‑day work week.
- Comfortable standing, walking, typing, and performing tasks in a clean‑room environment (full suit, mask, gloves, safety glasses).
- Capacity to work in environments with moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemical exposure, and confined spaces.
- Good visual acuity for inspection and operation of machinery.
The position requires a 12‑hour day shift on a compressed schedule, alternating between three‑day and four‑day work weeks. Anticipated hourly rate: $29.20–$43.73.
