Field Service Commissioning Technician

Job Description:

Field Service Technician at Bloom Energy.

• Provide fuel cell service during field visit dispatches.
• Operate a service vehicle safely.
• Create daily workflows for oneself from a list of scheduled tasks (regularly assigned to work autonomously).
• Manage on‑site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostic tasks.
• Follow company procedures and protocols.
• Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine/implement proper solutions.
• Cooperate with a technical team and share information across the organization.
• Comprehend and follow customer access requirements.
• Maintain service vehicle and spare part inventory.
• Maintain and build positive relationships with customers.
• Produce timely and detailed service reports as required.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

• High school diploma & 6 years of experience in electrical, process controls, or electro‑mechanical fields; or
• Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, or Electrician Certification in a technical field and relevant industry experience of 4 years (electrician, electronics technician, field service, technician, test engineer, etc.); or
• 5 years or more relevant experience in commercial electrical, combined with electrical‑related military experience (e.g., Navy Nuclear Electronics/Electrical Technician or other technical position, military certified electrician or technician, Gas Turbine Electrician).

• Strong electrical troubleshooting/diagnostic skills.
• Familiar with safety standards, especially OSHA & NFPA 70E.
• Prior experience as an electrician or electrical technician working with any of the following technologies: three‑phase systems, uninterruptible power supplies, electrical generation and distribution systems, power electronics, automatic transfer switches, and microprocessor‑based control platforms.
• Experience with various electrical/electronic test and measurement equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical single‑line diagrams and blueprints.
• Experience performing equipment maintenance in accordance with ANSI/NETA standards.
• Mechanical system aptitude, including troubleshooting/repair skills.
• Highly motivated and able to work autonomously.
• Demonstrates sound judgment in resolving complex problems.
• Team player with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
• Communicates written and verbal English effectively.
• Able to execute against written and verbal procedures and sequenced work instructions.
• Able to regularly handle equipment up to 50 lbs., occasionally lifting up to 70 lbs.
• Able to reach, squat, bend, and twist during the work day.
• Able to use a ladder or step‑stool regularly.
• Able to facilitate 24×7 on‑call duty.
• Able to facilitate shift work as needed.
• Able to work alternative schedules (e.g., one week or month of Wednesday‑Sunday).
• Able to support overtime to achieve quarterly goals.
• Able to travel throughout a large service district (e.g., Southern California District) and occasionally to other U.S. and international destinations.
• Maintains a clean driving record.

Two initial training sessions of up to four weeks each in Sunnyvale, CA.
