Job Description:
Field Service Technician at Bloom Energy.
- Provide fuel cell service during field visit dispatches.
- Operate a service vehicle safely.
- Create daily workflows for oneself from a list of scheduled tasks (regularly assigned to work autonomously).
- Manage on‑site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostic tasks.
- Follow company procedures and protocols.
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine/implement proper solutions.
- Cooperate with a technical team and share information across the organization.
- Comprehend and follow customer access requirements.
- Maintain service vehicle and spare part inventory.
- Maintain and build positive relationships with customers.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports as required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- High school diploma & 6 years of experience in electrical, process controls, or electro‑mechanical fields; or
- Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, or Electrician Certification in a technical field and relevant industry experience of 4 years (electrician, electronics technician, field service, technician, test engineer, etc.); or
- 5 years or more relevant experience in commercial electrical, combined with electrical‑related military experience (e.g., Navy Nuclear Electronics/Electrical Technician or other technical position, military certified electrician or technician, Gas Turbine Electrician).
- Strong electrical troubleshooting/diagnostic skills.
- Familiar with safety standards, especially OSHA & NFPA 70E.
- Prior experience as an electrician or electrical technician working with any of the following technologies: three‑phase systems, uninterruptible power supplies, electrical generation and distribution systems, power electronics, automatic transfer switches, and microprocessor‑based control platforms.
- Experience with various electrical/electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical single‑line diagrams and blueprints.
- Experience performing equipment maintenance in accordance with ANSI/NETA standards.
- Mechanical system aptitude, including troubleshooting/repair skills.
- Highly motivated and able to work autonomously.
- Demonstrates sound judgment in resolving complex problems.
- Team player with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Communicates written and verbal English effectively.
- Able to execute against written and verbal procedures and sequenced work instructions.
- Able to regularly handle equipment up to 50 lbs., occasionally lifting up to 70 lbs.
- Able to reach, squat, bend, and twist during the work day.
- Able to use a ladder or step‑stool regularly.
- Able to facilitate 24×7 on‑call duty.
- Able to facilitate shift work as needed.
- Able to work alternative schedules (e.g., one week or month of Wednesday‑Sunday).
- Able to support overtime to achieve quarterly goals.
- Able to travel throughout a large service district (e.g., Southern California District) and occasionally to other U.S. and international destinations.
- Maintains a clean driving record.
Two initial training sessions of up to four weeks each in Sunnyvale, CA.
Salary Ranges$24.05 - $34.61
