Job DescriptionIdaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Construction Equipment Operator I or II to join our Transmission and Distribution (T&D) team. Whatdoes a Construction Equipment Operator I or II do for us?
The Construction Equipment Operator performs assignments while operating a variety of heavy equipment/construction equipment. While on a work location, they report to the Foreman of that job and assist with lines work as needed and scheduled. They may perform other construction-related groundwork when equipment is not in use.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE Knowledge of- Reading grade stakes, and operating crawler tractors, semi‑tractors, and backhoes

- Familiarity of ANSI, OSHA rules and regulations

- Function, operation, and care of commonly encountered construction equipment

- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience using excavators, skid steers, front end loaders, dozers, line equipment (pullers, tensioners), trucks and trailers, and backhoes
- 1 year of experience using excavators, skid steers, front end loaders, dozers, line equipment (pullers, tensioners), trucks and trailers, and backhoes and Formal Construction Equipment/Operator Education (i.e. Idaho Heavy Equipment Operator Training)
- 3 years of experience working around overhead and underground power lines and equipment in the utility industry
- 40 hours of crane operation experience
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
- DOT medical card or ability to obtain prior to hire
- Must have a current DOT FMCSA 49 CFR Part 383 Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain prior to hire
- Must have or obtain tanker (N) and complete an Idaho Power Road Test within 30 days of hire
- Crane certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days
- High school diploma or GED
- 4 or more years recent experience using mini‑excavators, skid steers, trucks and trailers, and backhoes
- Building overhead power lines, setting poles, pulling wire, building roads and pad landings, and running various pieces of equipment including excavators, backhoes, dozers, rope trucks, and tensioners
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position
- Department of Transportation card or ability to obtain prior to hire
- Current DOT FMCSA 49 CFR Part 383 Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain prior to hire
- Must have or obtain an attached State‑issued Hazardous Materials endorsement within 90 days of hire
