Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, assembles, plans, routes, installs, and repairs wiring and other electrical components and equipment necessary to install engineered control and security systems. Contributes to the desired safety and work culture of the organization. Depending on size and scope of project, may oversee a project installation team.
Electrical Wiring / Installation- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring and equipment based on job specifications and local codes.
- Connect wires to electrical components as needed for a complete and operational system.
- Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits using devices such as ohmmeters or voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety.
- Use a variety of tools or equipment, including power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment such as ammeters.
- Place conduit, pipes, or tubing inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
- Responsible for personal and team safety on jobs, including pre‑task planning and toolbox talks.
- Assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic wiring or equipment using hand tools or power tools.
- Prepare as‑built documents and produce deliverables for the design team.
- Complete and submit labor and expense reports and paperwork in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
- Prepare completed job documentation and participate in operational verification of systems.
- Participate in and may develop a customer acceptance procedure plan.
- Monitor, manage, and anticipate project installation budgets and notify project leadership of potential problems in advance or as they arise.
- Submit regular labor productivity reports for each managed project.
- Prepare installation material orders and submit purchase order requests for specialized materials such as wire, conduit, and hangers.
- Visit the jobsite to obtain information necessary to order materials.
- Schedule delivery of equipment and installation materials to the job site.
- Monitor assigned jobs for changes in materials or equipment and make change order recommendations to the design team.
- Notify project leadership of changes in material requirements.
- Maintain close contact with installation personnel and respond to material contingencies as they arise.
- Participate in project hand‑off meetings and coordinate with project leadership to schedule installation resources and field labor necessary to meet project schedules.
- Examine job contract plans and specifications, review submittal documents with the design team to gain a complete picture of the system.
- Visit the job site to obtain information related to engineering layouts.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Maintain proficient product knowledge, procedures, and methods, and continuously learn more advanced product applications.
- Stay up to date on company installation standards, safety training, and current building codes as they pertain to the scope of work.
- Manage own backlog to ensure timely and accurate job completion.
- Keep field personnel informed of job status and elevate problems as needed.
- May be responsible for basic program duplication and assistance, and/or commissioning of unitary type control devices such as variable air volume units.
- Participate in startup procedures and may make minor modifications to control programs with direction from the controls system specialist.
- Mentor and train Controls Installation Specialists I and II.

$21.85 – $40.97 (actual salary will vary by candidate based on specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location).
