About the RoleWe are hiring a Field Service Engineer II to service and support radiation oncology linear accelerators (LINACs) in the field. This Level II role is designed for engineers who can diagnose, maintain, and repair systems independently on customer sites, focusing on minimizing downtime and delivering high‑touch customer support in clinical environments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform on‑site service, repair, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on assigned LINAC systems (hardware/software as applicable).
- Diagnose electro‑mechanical, electronic, and system‑level failures and determine the most cost‑effective resolution to reduce customer downtime.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for assigned accounts; build trust with clinical teams and stakeholders.
- Document service activity, troubleshooting steps, and parts usage accurately in internal systems.
- Maintain and manage spare parts inventory for assigned sites, including replenishment of customer kits where applicable.
- Provide remote/phone technical support as needed to support customers and/or other field engineers.
- Maintain current technical knowledge, documentation, and safe work practices.
- Minimum 2 years of hands‑on field service experience with Varian True Beam.
- Ability to work independently in the field and complete diagnostics/repairs without direct supervision.
- Strong background in electronic and electro‑mechanical troubleshooting and test equipment use (verification/calibration).
- Working knowledge of PC‑based systems; ability to identify and repair routine software and network‑related issues.
- Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset (clinical/professional environment).
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on equipment requiring standing, dexterity, and use of small tools/parts.
- Willingness to travel (domestic and occasional international travel may be required).
Elekta experience is a plus. Familiarity with CRM/ERP tools (e.g., Salesforce) and strong comfort with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
Schedule / On‑Call ExpectationsOn‑call coverage 24/7/365 (rotation/assignment details discussed during interview). Engineers typically support 2–3 machines on average (varies by territory and business needs).
