Position Summary

The Form Carpenter Helper II is required to perform a variety of tasks including erecting and setting forms for vertical and horizontal concrete structures and site work, per specifications and drawings.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret measuring tools such as tape measure, speed square, framing square, etc. to perform tasks accurately.
  • Fully understand Plant North and drawing coordinates.
  • Assist in setting and placement of forms to proper elevations and location, prepare the base and install proper reinforcing.
  • Experience and/or exposure in setting and erecting forms using a wide variety of materials and forming systems for vertical and horizontal concrete forming.
  • Assist in marking, cutting, and assembling materials. Shape materials to prescribed measurements and assemble, fasten with nails, dowel pins or glue.
  • Assist in general carpentry tasks such as building and installing barricades, decks, shelves, and any other miscellaneous site needs and duties that may arise.
  • Assist in placing/tying rebar.
  • Attain set standards of accuracy.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner.
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a carpenter helper role.
  • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project‑specific regulations.
  • Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors when on‑site.
  • Set a personal example of safe behavior.
  • Follow all state, company, client, OSHA, and federal guidelines regarding health and safety.
  • Maintain good housekeeping by cleaning up work area and jobsite after each task.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  • Maintain physical strength and stamina; use arms, hands, and legs fully; push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
  • Stamina to perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.
  • Adjust to constant change in weather and site conditions.
  • Possibility of moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Wear personal protective equipment including safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
  • Work at heights and abide by all safety and fall‑protection requirements; use required safety equipment.
  • Evaluate information based on measurable standards; see details in drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shading.
