Convergint is looking for a full‑time, enthusiastic, results‑driven and forward‑thinking Fire Alarm Technician to join our amazing culture. Responsibilities
  • Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation with guidance as needed.
  • Acts as the key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Assists with more complex issues by referring them to higher level colleagues.
  • Understands architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and schematics to ascertain scope and building features.
  • Interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.
  • Has expert understanding of building, mechanical, sprinkler and fire codes.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced colleagues.
  • Operates systems to demonstrate equipment, commissions new systems, analyzes performance and identifies malfunctions, and writes routine programs for systems.
  • Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
  • May advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards as well as suggestions for product improvements.
  • Executes many of the technical aspects of multiple projects with varying timelines and budgets, including programming, graphics development, start‑up, certification testing, customer training, close‑out documentation, and ongoing technical support.
  • Identifies potential project risks, communicates them to appropriate parties and assists in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Works with Fire Alarm Designer to ensure the system meets all relevant codes and standards.
  • Works closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager to assist in the overall coordination of specific projects, makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope, and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; maintaining awareness of and meeting the needs and wants of the customer without prompting.
  • Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non‑technical audience.
  • Willingness to learn technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Self‑starter and works well with little supervision.
  • Understanding of electronics to include Ohm's law, resistor color code, and relay logic for control of third‑party equipment.
