Job Description
As a Controls Technician, you will develop skills in troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, and operating controls systems with their related hardware, software, and equipment. You will gain an in-depth understanding of HVAC-related controls and provide analysis of building control and mechanical system performance at a systems and campus level. Accurate and complete documentation is a high priority for this position.
Responsibilities- Help day-to-day manage a low-voltage installation subcontractor
- Attend daily work-huddles and coordination meetings
- Monitor quality and safety standards
- Lead start-up and commissioning of building automation systems
- Modify and create project-specific controls programming
- Update and maintain controls diagrams and drawing sets to reflect accurate on-site conditions
- Interface directly with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers while working alongside other skilled team members
- Functionally test custom front-ends to ensure they meet design intent and end-user needs
- Support owner training as part of project closeout
- Apply DDC and PLC programming knowledge and make minor modifications to existing programs
- Maintain clear and updated field documentation, including as-built drawing sets, project check-out sheets, and UL panel tags
- Provide feedback on company-wide standards and participate in continuous improvement initiatives

- Associate’s degree or certificate in an Applied Technologies field
- Exposure to electronics and basic electrical circuits
- Exposure to basic programming concepts
- Experience troubleshooting basic and complex problems
- Full-time, exempt position, typical workdays Monday–Friday
- Local travel required up to 50% of the time
- Consistent physical work at project job sites, mainly on your feet; required personal protective equipment; may lift up to 25 lbs occasionally; comfortable climbing ladders; small repetitive motions and tool use included
