$20.00–$60.00 per hour DOE | Full-Time
$5,000 sign-on bonus for technicians with 4+ years of relevant experience and $2,500 for technicians with 1–4 years of relevant experience

Cold Tech Refrigeration is growing, and we are looking for skilled Commercial HVAC & Refrigeration Service Technicians to join our Boise team.
This is a service-focused opportunity for technicians who enjoy troubleshooting complex equipment, solving problems in the field, and taking pride in getting the job done right.
Our strongest candidates will have hands-on experience with commercial chillers, boilers, refrigeration rack systems, and commercial HVAC/refrigeration equipment.
Cold Tech provides commercial HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, chiller, and preventative maintenance services to restaurants, healthcare facilities, industrial customers, supermarkets, schools, convenience stores, and other commercial customers throughout Idaho and beyond.
Whether you're an experienced service technician or an apprentice looking to build your career, we offer a structured advancement path from Level 1 Apprentice through Level 5 Master Service Technician.
What You'll Work OnOur technicians diagnose, repair, maintain, and service a wide range of commercial equipment, with a strong emphasis on:
- Commercial refrigeration rack systems
- Chillers
- Boilers
- Commercial HVAC systems
- Walk-in coolers and freezers
- Reach-in refrigeration
- Rooftop units (RTUs)
- VRF systems
- Ice machines
- Electrical controls and troubleshooting
- Equipment start-ups and commissioning
- Preventative maintenance
- Emergency and after-hours service
Experience with chillers, boilers, or rack refrigeration systems is highly desirable.
Compensation$20.00–$60.00 per hour
, based on experience, certifications, technical ability, and overall performance.
- Level 1 – Apprentice: $20.00–$26.00/hr
- Level 2 – Service Technician I: $27.00–$35.00/hr
- Level 3 – Service Technician II: $36.00–$45.00/hr
- Level 4 – Senior Service Technician: $46.00–$52.00/hr
- Level 5 – Master Service Technician: $52.00–$60.00/hr
We are looking for technicians who can troubleshoot independently, communicate professionally with customers, and take ownership of their work.
The ideal candidate:
- Has strong commercial HVAC and/or refrigeration service experience
- Has hands-on experience troubleshooting chillers, boilers, or refrigeration rack systems
- Can diagnose equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair
- Works independently with minimal supervision
- Takes ownership and accountability for assigned service calls
- Communicates professionally with customers and coworkers
- Documents work accurately and thoroughly
- Works safely and follows company procedures
- Takes pride in quality workmanship
- Has a positive, team-first attitude
- Is committed to continually learning and improving
Certifications & Licensing
- EPA Section 608 Certification – Required
- Current Idaho HVAC Apprentice Registration OR Idaho HVAC Journeyman License – Required
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Must be insurable under the company's vehicle insurance policy
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds
