- ? Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on ready-mix trucks and fleet vehicles
- ? Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, brake service, and inspections, to keep the fleet running reliably
- ? Inspect and service mixer drums, chutes, PTOs, and other truck-mounted concrete equipment
- ? Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, and drivetrain issues
- ? Perform DOT inspections and ensure trucks meet all safety and compliance standards
- ? Weld, cut, and fabricate parts and attachments as needed
- ? Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules
- ? Identify and order parts needed for repairs
- ? Respond to breakdowns quickly to minimize truck downtime and keep deliveries on schedule
- ? Follow all safety protocols and participate in daily safety discussions
- ? Maintain a clean and organized shop area
- ? Other duties as assigned
- ? Hands-on mechanical experience working on trucks, heavy equipment, or diesel engines (ready-mix or commercial fleet experience preferred)
- ? Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
- ? Ability to diagnose problems efficiently and make sound repair decisions
- ? Ability to weld, cut, and fabricate basic metal components
- ? Comfortable using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools
- ? Willingness to learn new truck and equipment systems through on-the-job training
- ? Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals
- ? Strong work ethic, reliability, and safety mindset
- ? Valid driver's license (CDL a plus but not required)
- ? ASE certification or diesel technology trade school background
- ? Experience specifically with ready-mix trucks or similar heavy-duty fleet vehicles
- ? DOT inspection certification (or willingness to obtain)
The Truck Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing our ready-mix truck fleet to keep deliveries running safely and on schedule. This role is built around hands-on mechanical skill and real-world troubleshooting ability. A four-year degree is not required, and we value proven experience and a strong work ethic over formal credentials. We provide on-the-job training to help the right candidate grow in the role.
