WCA Court Advocates provide trauma-informed advocacy and support to individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, harassment, and related crimes. This role serves as a primary point of contact for individuals seeking court-related advocacy services and assists clients in navigating protection orders, family court processes, safety planning, and community resources.

Working closely with clients, court personnel, and community partners, the Court Advocate helps survivors access legal remedies, increase safety, and make informed decisions while receiving compassionate, survivor-centered support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Protection Order orientations and assist clients through the protection order process
  • Assist clients with completing protection order petitions and related court documentation
  • Provide individualized safety planning, crisis intervention, and emotional support
  • Accompany and support clients through protection order hearings and other court-related proceedings as appropriate
  • Connect clients with legal service providers, WCA programs, and community resources
  • Educate clients regarding court processes, available resources, and victim rights
  • Maintain accurate and timely client documentation and case records
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with court personnel, attorneys, law enforcement, and community partners
  • Represent WCA in a professional, ethical, and trauma-informed manner
  • Participate in community outreach, staff meetings, required trainings, and professional development opportunities
What You Bring
  • A combination of education and experience demonstrating an understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, trauma, victim advocacy, legal systems, human services, or related fields
  • Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with individuals experiencing crisis
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently in courthouse and community-based settings
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards
  • Ability to complete Direct Service Victim Advocacy training as required by the Idaho Council on Domestic Violence and Victim Assistance
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance meeting Idaho requirements if driving on behalf of WCA
