Join Our Team as a Technical Records Specialist 2 at the Idaho Department of Parks & Recreation’s Headquarters Office in Boise!Based out of the Idaho Parks and Recreation’s Headquarters office in Boise, this position is a key part of the Registration/Reservation (R&R) Team, supporting staff, vendors, customers, and program operations throughout Idaho.
In this role, you will become a knowledgeable resource for the R&R programs, helping solve complex issues, supporting registration activities, providing guidance and training, and keeping important processes moving forward. You will work closely with internal staff and external partners, assist with customer issues that require additional research or problem solving, and contribute to special projects and ongoing program improvements.
Success in this role requires someone who is dependable, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of their work. The team relies on this position to follow through, communicate clearly, manage competing priorities, and use sound judgment when challenges arise. You will also have opportunities to contribute to projects, improve processes, develop helpful resources, and will play an active role in improving how the R&R Team serves Idaho’s parks, partners, and customers.

- Perform complex and difficult program support functions for multiple or highly specialized programs including providing training and monitoring multiple data sources
- Engage in collections of receivables using telephone and correspondence
- Have the authority, knowledge, and judgment to devise solutions that fall outside existing policies and procedures
- Problem solving and negotiation skills with authority to act on decisions made
- Serve as a program expert and provide guidance and assistance regarding complex program rules and regulations to office staff and external customers
- Frequent contact with internal and external customers, which requires good public relation skills
- Function with considerable independence and exercise discretion in applying policies and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of department programs and objectives
- Extensive knowledge of office functions and management
This position requires one year of work experience in each of the following:
- Monitoring record systems to identify and correct errors.
- Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations, and complex policies for multiple or highly specialized programs.
- Analyzing information and researching a variety of sources to identify and resolve problems or issues.
- Dealing with individuals from varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in stressful situations.
- Composing and proofreading business correspondence.
- Entering and retrieving data using a computerized record system.
- Experience working with federal or state program requirements
- Experience using word processing software (such as Microsoft Word) and equipment at the rate of 40 wpm or more and produce merged documents, specialized tables, reports (columns), correspondence, forms (creating and using templates), and graphics.
