Software Development Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

CVS Health Digital is looking for hands‑on, passionate people to join a high‑energy and growing team that is modernizing legacy applications with integrated AI workflows. As a Staff Engineer you will develop specialty pharmacy initiatives, lead ambient projects that address customer challenges, and contribute to modernizing legacy applications. You will provide strategic leadership for the software development of our application products that leverage advanced technologies.

In this role you will mentor and guide team members, drive development decisions, assist with architecture design, demonstrate executive‑level qualities, lead conversations, design for quality, and code as required to push projects from conception to customers.

• 7+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years of backend technology experience including Java, Spring Boot, NodeJS, Go, Kafka, Postgre
  
  SQL, Cassandra
• 5+ years of experience in architecting, designing, and delivering scalable microservices‑based applications
• 5+ years partnering with architecture, product, and program management teams to influence product development decisions
• 5+ years of experience working on a project using mature CI/CD practices, source control such as Git, and automated testing framework – like JBehave, Cucumber etc
• 5+ years of experience working on Agile teams
• 4+ years of working with large public cloud technologies (GCP preferred), AWS, Azure

• Hands‑on expertise in setting up Cloud Infrastructure – GKE, Compute Engine, VPC Networks, Cloud Run, Load Balancers (Internal & External), Google Edge etc.
• Hands‑on expertise in setting up end‑to‑end observability framework
• Proficient understanding of different infrastructure architecture designs
• Experience partnering with product and engineering leaders to deliver high‑quality technology solutions
• Aware of modern emerging technologies
• Strong understanding of modern software development practices using tools for version control, CI/CD, testing and deployment
• Experience developing scalable engineering solutions for cross‑team concerns like UI state management, data fetching, build tooling, performance, client observability, analytics, and other architectural challenges

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (high school diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
