Rail Analyst- Boise

Under general supervision and following prescribed procedures, this role secures cost-effective transportation from different sources (company fleet, contract carriers, and single-source lessors) to meet customer's needs while maintaining profitability targets.

• Perform daily tracking and tracing of Simplot Global Food rail fleet equipment, maintaining and documenting data in rail tracking system (Bourque) and railroad systems.
• Daily proactive communication with railroads to resolve all types of service issues including First Mile and Last Mile local service.
• Generate bills of lading, diversions and or reships as needed for the assigned fleets.
• Managing EDI billing issue as they arise.
• Develop and manage rail reports for managing rail pipeline and regulatory testing and working with railroads on systemic resolution.
• Supply management of empty and loaded railcars to/from all locations.
• Analysis and Query of rail movement data to build metrics, identify operational cost drivers, trends, and drive optimization improvements.
• Collaborate with business units by identifying trends and providing recommendations on fleet utilization and optimization.
• Understanding the basic principles of rail fleet management to ensure movements are commercially acceptable.
• Assisting accounts payables team on verifying car movement and verification of secondary cost.
• Interface with rail maintenance team to manage related issues and drive process improvements.
• Training and backup on other desks on the rail operations team.
• Understanding and abiding by the rules/requirements of rail regulatory activity.

Associate's Degree (A.A. or equivalent)

1-3 years of transportation experience and/or training

Knowledge:
This is ansenior level job to the Transportation Coordinator job family requiring comprehensive knowledge of transportation. Demonstrated understanding of personal computers and specific use of reports generated from transportation information systems.

Skills:

Applies some advanced skills in Transportation. May adapt procedures, processes and techniques to meet the more complex requirements of the position. Duties and tasks are frequently non- routine. Resolves most questions and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
