Technician

The Boise Airport is growing! To keep pace with the growth of our city and meet the demands of our community, the airport is undergoing a multi-million-dollar capital expansion plan to accommodate future transportation needs. This role offers a clear career path, starting as a technician and advancing to Technician Sr., then Maintenance Mechanic Sr., and finally Airport Maintenance Mechanic Lead.

The Technician role:

  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, operates, repairs and maintains several types of equipment and systems at the airport.
  • Conducts maintenance, repairs and remodels on the airport terminal, parking areas and rental properties.
  • Conducts all tasks and duties under supervision in the baggage handling system.
  • This position works under immediate/direct supervision.

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience performing repairs and maintenance in an industrial or commercial setting, a journey-level trade license, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Licensing And Other Requirements

  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Ability to complete airport driver training/certification.

  • City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
  • Driving Record Check
  • Transportation Security Administration background check (SIDA)

Additional Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training Knowledge of: all aspects of facility maintenance; safety and security systems, baggage handling systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HVAC and related controls; operation of equipment and tools used; principles of electrical systems; and computer usage including related software. Ability to: comply with safety and security measures as required in an airport environment; safely use a variety of hand and power tools;

communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation. Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training Four years of experience in commercial facility maintenance and a specialty trade license.

Physical Efforts While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds, frequently lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 75 pounds.

Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds, frequently pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, occasionally pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds. The noise level is occasionally very loud and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, smell and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Employees will sit, stand, walk, run, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity. The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards and work in/loyees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position.

Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids and chemicals. Employees work around baggage handling systems, driveway curbing and moving vehicles such as aircraft tugs and luggage carts. This position works: on a shift schedule and all shifts in a 24/7/365 operation and schedules are adjusted per business needs.
