Fleet Maintenance Technician

The Fleet Division is currently seeking qualified candidates for two Fleet Maintenance Technician vacancies.

One position will be assigned to a permanent shop location, primarily performing maintenance and repair work on medium- and heavy-duty trucks.

The second position will serve as a floater, working across various fleet locations and equipment types - including small equipment, mowers, utility vehicles, automobiles, light trucks, medium trucks, heavy trucks, and other specialized equipment.

A Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake, tanker, and passenger endorsements is required, or candidates must have the ability to obtain one. These roles are ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, troubleshooting, and solving a variety of mechanical challenges. No two days are the same. Technicians work on engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, drive trains, brakes, attachments, small engines, and fabrication-related repairs.

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training:

• Associate's degree, 2 years technical/trade school or equivalent military training
• 4 years of experience in an automobile, heavy truck or equipment maintenance/repair organization
• or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Licensing And Other Requirements:

• In this position, you will work with your supervisor to obtain the licenses and certifications while on probation, typically 6 months. If needed, your probationary period will be extended by three months to allow you the time needed to successfully obtain the following licenses and certifications:
  Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake, tank and passenger endorsement;
  Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) license for A/C recovery, recycling and recharge; and/or Ada County Air Quality Board emission testing license.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.

• City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

  In accordance with the City of Boise Drug Free Workplace Regulation, this position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to testing requirements including Post Offer Applicant Testing, Random Testing, Reasonable Suspicion, Post - Accident, etc. Applicants will be required to submit to screening for illegal drug use prior to hire. Appointment to this position is contingent upon a negative pre-employment drug test.
• This position is required to operate, maintain or inspect emergency vehicles, heavy equipment, or vehicles having a gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds and/or life saving equipment used for emergency services.
