Opifex-Synergy is expanding into new locations and seeking experienced, safety-minded CDL Drivers to join our growing team. We provide a diverse range of compact and heavy equipment from leading manufacturers, serving everyone from large construction firms to local contractors.
CDL Drivers transport construction equipment between locations using tractor trailers and heavy trucks, ensuring safe, timely deliveries while following all traffic and safety regulations. Drivers must hold a valid Class A CDL and maintain required medical certification. Candidates must be comfortable operating heavy vehicles and machinery, have good hand-eye coordination, vision, and hearing, and be physically capable of performing the job.
- Loading, unloading, and securing of equipment for transport
- Safely loads and unloads various types of equipment using proper tools and handling techniques
- Ensures all cargo is balanced, tied down, and secured in compliance with company policies and federal safety regulations
- Confirms that load documentation is accurate and equipment is protected during transit
- Operates commercial vehicles on local and regional routes
- Plans efficient travel paths considering traffic, weather, and delivery deadlines
- Adapts to schedule changes and customer needs
- Completes thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections
- Identifies mechanical issues early and reports promptly
- Keeps accurate inspection logs and follows safety protocols
- Communicates professionally with customers to ensure a positive delivery experience
- Provides updates on delivery timing, equipment condition, and special instructions
- Addresses concerns promptly and courteously
- Demonstrates safe equipment usage at point of delivery
- Ensures customer understanding of safety features and operation
- Maintains accurate logs, delivery records, and hours-of-service documentation
- Follows all DOT regulations and company policies
Required Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Class A driver’s license required; medical certification
- 2+ years of tractor-trailer driving preferred
- Clean driving record with no moving violations
- Must pass a background check and drug test
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
- Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
- Physically and mentally fit
- Strong eyesight and hearing
Supervisory Responsibilities
- None
- Work is performed in construction sites, equipment yards, and transportation routes
- Regular exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment
- Frequent outdoor work in heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Uneven terrain, dust, mud, and high noise levels
- May involve shop tasks and fieldwork
- PPE must be worn as needed
- Must be comfortable around large equipment and elevated positions
- Lifting heavy materials is often required
- Flexibility is essential as job conditions change rapidly
- Local travel required daily to job sites
- Requires high physical stamina and mobility
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of tools, chains, tarps, and equipment up to 50+ pounds
- Regular bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching
- Prolonged standing and walking on uneven surfaces
- Climbing in and out of trucks and onto trailers
- Ability to work from heights on ladders or platforms
- Dexterity for tie-downs, controls, and documentation
- Must safely operate commercial vehicles and remain alert
- Occasional pushing/pulling of heavy materials
