Position is located within a National Interagency Support Cache (NISC). You will be responsible for packaging, kit building, movement of supplies and equipment, and repairing and refurbishing supplies and equipment under supervision within the Kit and/or Returns area of an NISC warehouse.
Duties- Responsible for packaging, kit building, loading/unloading of supplies and equipment, and repairing/refurbishing supplies and equipment.
- Collates, assembles, inventories, and builds kits from individual components according to National Fire Equipment System (NFES) standards.
- Packs and labels material following agency, federal and international packing and shipping requirements for hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and items.
- Arranges, seals, and tags items and equipment that require specialized handling.
- Uses and maintains various types of equipment for packaging such as heat sealers, hand powered and mechanical shrink wrap, banding, and stapling machines.
- Disassembles and reassembles supplies to replace parts, apply oils, rust inhibitors, and other preservation materials.
- Stacks, moves, and arranges items on pallets considering height, weight, and special handling requirements; screens shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies.
- Complies with all safety and regulatory requirements related to warehousing and packing.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Per Public Law 104‑134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit.
- Successfully pass the E‑Verify employment verification check.
- One‑year probationary period during which performance is evaluated.
- Must be a certified forklift operator in accordance with OSHA standards and able to pass an operators test, read traffic signs, and complete trip tickets within one year of initial employment.
In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualification requirements as of the closing date of the announcement. Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than length of experience.
