About the Teff Company:
The Teff Company has a diverse clientele base, including Ethiopian and Eritrean store owners and restauranteurs. Teff is best known as the primary ingredient in injera, a fermented flat bread, but we are continuing to explore different applications for this tasty, nutritious, and versatile ancient grain. You’ll be joining an entrepreneurial, family-owned company working to deliver high quality teff and teff-based products to consumers and manufacturers in the United States.

About the Position:
The Warehouse Associate is an entry level position that is integral to the Teff Company’s distribution network and supply chain management. This role supports the day-to-day warehouse operations and performs a wide range of tasks within the warehouse including: fulfilling and processing orders, milling operations, freight preparation, packaging, bulk grain unloading and general organization of the warehouse.
Who You Are:
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Warehouse Associate to join our team! You are a team player, a multi-tasker and communicate well with others. You are willing to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and maintain quality and accuracy. You are also interested in learning more about warehouse operations and teff.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Operate different types of machinery including packing equipment (e.g., Bagger / BBU Operator)
  • Operate a forklift safely and within all areas of the facility
  • Participate in sales order fulfillment process, checking, verifying and filling customer orders
  • Complete production and food safety logs with accuracy
  • Keep warehouse clean and organized
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and operate all equipment in a safe manner
  • Perform other related assignments, as agreed
  • Be productive with downtime; cleaning and completing tasks related to the food safety program
Skills,

Education and Experience:
  • 1 year of food production or related work experience preferred
  • Experience in the grain/milling industry, a plus
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, dynamic environment
  • Ability to work well individually and as a member of a team
  • Detail-oriented
  • Possess an understanding of machinery and mechanical inclination, a plus
  • Forklift experience, a plus; training and certification available onsite
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Work Environment and

Physical Requirements:
  • Moderately physically demanding and requiring lifting products weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time; go up and down stairs
  • This position frequently works within an area that is not heated or cooled and is subject to relative extremes in hot and cold temperatures dependent on weather conditions
  • This work environment can be dusty and noisy
Compensation and Benefits:

The Teff Company offers a competitive hourly rate, starting at $19.50 /hr. We provide three weeks’ paid time off to start (PTO); PTO then increases based on years of service. Benefits include a comprehensive package for medical, dental, vision, EAP services and a 401(k) retirement plan; health coverage begins on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
