Overview
Candidate will be responsible for engineering of material handling systems. Each system is custom designed per client based on the optimal solution. This requires a team effort of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, controls, software, and project management. The team will develop and implement a design concept that satisfies the customer's requirement for safety, functionality, reliability, throughput, and expense.
Responsibilities
* Designing/enhancing conveyor systems as well as various automated and semi-automated material handling systems; may work on phases of a larger project or an entire smaller project
* Review of product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements and specifications
* Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
* Prepares/Reviews approval, permit, and installation drawings using AutoCAD
* Obtains material and product quotes from vendors and issues purchase orders
* Helps monitor the project schedule, engineering time, and material costs
* Works with other disciplines on the project team to make sure the engineered solution and all equipment fit within system confines and constraints
* Travels up to 20% to measure buildings, inventory equipment, commission systems, and interface with customers
* Participates in continuous improvement projects
* Resolves engineering issues by working with customers, vendors and other team members
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Industrial, or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 6 years of material handling related experience
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Requirements:
* AutoCAD and/or Solid Works proficiency
* Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.
* Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
* Strong knowledge of the material handling business
* Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installers
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
* Team-oriented and collaborative
* Self-motivated and detail-oriented
* Ability to learn new technology
* Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
