Welder II; 2nd shift

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, square up, fit, stiffen and tack weld subassemblies and assemblies of moderate to advanced complexity using miscellaneous equipment (B/Ms, steel tape, straight edge, squarer, clamps, jacks fixtures, templates).
• Fit parts using torch or carbon arc or hand grinding equipment to facilitate alignment and assembly.
• Set up and regulate pressure for oxyacetylene torch; regulate gas, current and voltage for proper penetration and fusion of metals.
• Select electrode size and type, tips and welding rod or wire as required.
• Check and straighten gasket surfaces and grind excess weld from finished work.
• Lay out and secure work which may involve heavy parts and assemblies; ensure proper penetration and fusion of similar and dissimilar metals.
• Perform moderate to advanced MIG/TIG welding in various positions as required.
• Perform preventive maintenance procedures as needed.
• Provide personal tools as required.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently to accomplish job results.
• Contribute to team effort by training others in welding tasks as needed.
• Inspect all work and ensure it meets requirements prior to passing it on to the next operation.
• Document actions by completing production and quality forms.

• Holds a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Has at least one year of formal welding training or the equivalent level of experience.
• Has 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to safely use small hand and power tools, measuring tools, air tools and welding equipment.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and Bills of Material.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to perform MIG and TIG welding in various positions.

• Work is classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL).
• Frequencies:
  Occasional, Frequent, Continuous.
• Lifting:
  Lift up to 75 pounds occasionally; up to 40 pounds frequently; carry up to 40 pounds occasionally for up to 25 feet.
• Push/Pull: up to 40 pounds frequently; more than 40 pounds occasionally with assistance.
• Postural Demands:
  Standing and walking continuous; bending/stooping and squatting/kneeling frequent; lifting frequent.
• Miscellaneous Demands:
  Gripping, manipulation, fingering continuous; variable hand/power tool use frequent; two-person tasks with assistive devices; must remain medically cleared to wear PAPR or SAR welding respirator helmet.

Pay Range is typically between $27 - $30 per hour. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.
