Role Summary
Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Die Cutter Operator for a direct hire opportunity in Bolingbrook, IL. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining die cutting equipment used to produce folding cartons and packaging products. The ideal candidate has experience in printing, packaging, or converting environments and is committed to producing high‑quality products while maximizing machine efficiency.
Shift& Hours
- Day shift: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM (3 × 12‑hour shifts Monday–Wednesday or Thursday–Saturday; Sunday optional overtime)
- Set up and operate die cutting equipment according to job tickets and production specifications.
- Install and align dies, cutting plates, stripping units, and make‑ready materials.
- Adjust machine settings including speed, pressure, registration, guides, and stripping functions.
- Perform efficient job changeovers while minimizing downtime and material waste.
- Read and interpret production schedules and job specifications.
- Perform make‑readies and verify proper machine setup before production.
- Inspect finished products and perform documented quality checks throughout production.
- Troubleshoot die cutting equipment, tooling, and mechanical issues.
- Move finished loads using hand trucks or forklifts as needed.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and basic machine adjustments.
- Coordinate with Printing Press Operators, Folder Gluer Operators, and Production teams to maintain workflow.
- Assist in training new operators as needed.
- Participate in shift handoffs, production meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all SQF, GMP, food safety, PPE, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience operating industrial die cutting equipment
- Experience in printing, packaging, folding carton, or converting manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules and job tickets
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to perform machine setups, make‑readies, and changeovers
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Preferred:
- Folding carton manufacturing experience
- Experience with high-speed die cutting equipment
- Forklift experience
- Knowledge of SQF, GMP, HACCP, and food packaging standards
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Stand and walk for extended periods during 8 to 12‑hour shifts.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and handling production materials.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Required use of PPE and adherence to all plant safety procedures.
