Registered Nurse RN Behavioral Geriatric Unit

Job Description

Responds to and participates in unit and hospital code situations, treating patients according to protocols. Supervises and guides licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel in delivering safe, therapeutic, and quality patient care. Assists physicians with bedside procedures and performs therapeutic measures as prescribed. Develops, prioritizes, and documents individualized care plans involving patients, families, and significant others. Administers medications and treatments accurately and appropriately, including IV infusions and oxygen supplementation.

Provides patient and family education on care plans, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions, documenting the education provided and patient responses. Maintains a safe patient care environment, including the use of restraints and fall risk precautions. Other duties as assigned. Performs and documents accurate initial and ongoing patient assessments, including physical and mental status, and reports findings to the responsible physician.

Monitors patient lab work for trends, reports abnormal results, and obtains appropriate interventions. Evaluates and communicates patient responses to care plans and interventions to appropriate team members.

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise plan of care according to outcomes. (Required)
• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft Windows‑based programs. (Required)
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal, and written). (Required)
• Associate’s degree in Nursing. (Required)
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. (Preferred)
• 1+ years behavioral health nursing experience. (Preferred)
• RN experience with dementia (geriatric) population. (Preferred)
• Registered Nurse (RN). (Required)
• Basic Life Support – CPR certification (BLS). (Required)
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Program. (Preferred)

Schedule: Full‑time 36 hours/week, Days 7 a–7 p;
Rotating weekends and holidays

Pay Range: $33.60 - $56.52
