Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN

Overview

The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 2 is an entry‑level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) for new employees who meet the RN CAP 2 criteria or who attain the level through advancement from RN CAP 1. The role is accountable for providing and coordinating clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of patients.

• Perform all essential nursing functions under the direction of the Supervisor and guidance of the Clinical Educator or Preceptor.
• Collect, analyze, and document patient data during hemodialysis treatment, adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
• Assess, collaborate, and document patient/family learning needs and provide education.
• Direct and provide safe and effective delivery of hemodialysis therapy, collaborating with direct and ancillary staff.
• Administer medications per prescribed orders or approved algorithms and document justification and effectiveness.
• Initiate or assist with emergency response measures.
• Serve as a resource, leader, coach, mentor, and role model for staff, setting appropriate behavioral examples.
• Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures, and reschedule missed or insufficient collections.
• Update nursing assessment and plan of care through collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options.
• Participate in education and quality improvement projects at the facility and area level.
• Serve as a Preceptor to new employees when required.
• Complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance the designation.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state licensure as an RN.
• Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.
• Minimum 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as an RN.
• Minimum 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience for entry‑level candidates.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Nephrology Nursing for entry‑level candidates.
• Ability to perform physical demands of patient care, including lifting up to 200 lbs. with assistance.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

• Hourly Rate: $40.00 – $59.00 (depending on location and qualifications).
