Position summary
Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and installing various material handling equipment on customers’ premises – meeting and exceeding customer’s expectations.
General PurposeTo support our company mission to install new and service existing customers’ equipment professionally with the least amount of down time possible.
Role qualifications- Must maintain excellent rapport with customers.
- Must stay current with technical knowledge on products we support.
- Must be a good communicator – written and verbal.
- Must ensure we use “safety” in all activities encountered throughout the day.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed to satisfy the customer, to include off-hours emergency calls.
- Complete all jobs assigned to you.
- Communicate with Service & Installation Manager on any unusual problems encountered or for any technical assistance needed.
- Complete and submit all paperwork daily for jobs worked on (time cards, maintenance reports with customers’ signature). Paperwork must be completed at job site before leaving for the next job, or going home.
- Attend service training classes offered to maintain knowledge on new products, or for refreshers on products not encountered too often. Must successfully complete any training courses required.
- Develop and maintain relationships with account managers to keep them informed of sales opportunities you might see.
- Travel to customer sites including overnight travel, as needed.
- Assist, guide and mentor any new techs or installers hired by Wolter or hired as outside contractors for certain projects.
- Perform projects as requested by Service & Installation Manager or General Manager.
- Must have two years of electronic training or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- Prior experience repairing or servicing field‑installed equipment with very good skills and experience in repairing equipment.
- Time management, the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Basic computer proficiency and laptop fundamentals.
- Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Must be certified to operate material handling equipment (we can provide certification).
- Commitment to company vision and mission.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Schematics interpretation.
- Awareness of lean business principals.
- Physical demands:
Employee lifts and carries in excess of 100 pounds on a very occasional basis, 50-100 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds frequently. Employee is required to frequently stand, recline (lying on back), kneel, walk, twist, reach and use feet to repair and operate equipment. Employee is required occasionally sit, stoop, crouch, squat, climb and crawl. Constant use of hands and fingers to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, computer equipment and office equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must have listening, speaking and writing skills to communicate with customers and service office. - Work environment:
The noise level in the work environment can include loud noises, extreme cold or extreme heat, and vibration. Might be exposed to mists, dust, odors or gases, and will be frequently exposed to moving machinery or parts, and power tools. When performing duties of this job, it is a requirement to wear Personal Protective Equipment whenever appropriate – to include (but not limited to) hard hats, steel‑toe shoes, and safety glasses.
