Position Overview
Master Diesel Technician III will be running diagnostic tests, repairing semi-tractor vehicles, and performing preventative maintenance. The individual at this position will be eager to provide the best truck service and willing to communicate with company drivers, and other Technicians within the shop to achieve overall success of the repair process.
Responsibilities- Diagnose issues in semi-trucks and tractor-trailers
- Perform preventative maintenance on tractors
- Perform Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) preventive maintenance, including replacing coils and filters
- Perform tractor preventive maintenance, including changing out filters, testing fire alarms and fire extinguishers
- Test equipment and systems for performance
- Perform repairs to brakes and electrical systems
- Perform brake system repairs, suspension maintenance and structural damage repairs, performing routine maintenance and regulatory compliance
- Perform disk and drum air brake repairs
- Replace parts as needed
- Document repairs
- Perform routine engine maintenance and repairs on Cummins, PACCAR, International and Detroit engines
- Diagnose and repair engine-related issues
- Ability to do engine rebuilds and overhauls
- Ability to diagnose and repair aftertreatment systems
- Ability to read and understand wiring schematics
- Ensure services meet quality standards and safety procedures
- Perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles
- Works as a team member
- Diagnose fault codes
- Must have ability and desire to learn complex mechanical systems
- MUST OWN YOUR OWN TOOLS
- Minimum 1 year experience in semi-tractor maintenance and repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in tractor maintenance and repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Diesel mechanic experience is a must
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Computer literate
- Valid driver’s license
- Proven experience as a semi-diesel mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- ASE certification preferred
- 10+ years of experience is desired but not required
- Experience at a dealership and/or fleet maintenance welcomed
First Shift, 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
