Position Summary
CDL-A Delivery Driver responsible for delivering and unloading food and food-related products to customers in a safe and timely manner, following DOT regulations. The role requires driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction. This position is part of a team that supports America’s food distribution system and represents the company to customers.
Responsibilities- Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspect tractor/truck and trailer to meet company safety standards; report safety issues and needed repairs.
- Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies; immediately report safety hazards.
- Inspect trailers for proper loading and secured freight; ensure accurate paperwork and customer invoices; perform count checks as needed.
- Move tractors to loading docks and attach preloaded trailers as required.
- Drive to deliver customer orders according to the schedule; unload products and transport to designated customer storage areas.
- Conduct damage-control checks on items; verify delivery with customers and obtain signatures; collect payments where required.
- Load customer returns, secure trailers, and ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are secured.
- Unload damaged goods and returns and complete necessary paperwork; remove trash as required.
- Complete daily hours-of-service logs according to Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the tractor, loading dock area, and trailers; secure all equipment at end of shift.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- 6+ or 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL-A; must be 21+ years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
- Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass road test; obtain or maintain valid DOT Health Card.
- Able to lift and move freight using two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment; typical item weights range from 10–35 pounds and up to 60–90 pounds depending on location.
- Starting rate: $30.90 per hour.
- Quarterly safety bonuses.
- Schedule:
Primarily Monday–Friday with limited regional overnight routes as needed. - Newer equipment with liftgate trailers; all routes equipped with electric pallet jacks.
