Area Lead Health Information Specialist

Location:

5659 Bolivar, MO (also Mountain Home, AR).
Full‑time (Mon‑Fri 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST)

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process patient health information requests in accordance with company policies, procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of all privileged information.
  • Keep current knowledge of company and facility software.
  • Adhere to the company’s and facility’s code of conduct and policies.
  • Report work, site difficulties, and changing volumes to manager.
  • Assist with additional duties as required.
  • Apply meticulous attention to detail for medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with medical privacy regulations and guard against unauthorized disclosure.
  • Manage patient health records, including preparation of new charts, gathering documents from paper or EHR sources, assembling records in standard order, and creating digital images for the EHR.
  • Respond to patient record requests, both internally and externally, retrieving and transmitting them appropriately.
  • Handle inbound/outbound calls and assist patient walk‑ins.
  • Support administrative duties such as fax handling, mail opening, and data entry.
  • Schedule pick‑ups and assist with training associates in HIS roles.
  • Generate reports for managers or facilities as directed.
  • Meet or exceed Level 1 productivity expectations for the specific site.
  • Participate in project teams, committees, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Mentor HIS staff and provide training and coverage as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding activities for new employees.
  • Lead training sessions for staff development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring to the Table

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed.
  • Readiness to work overtime during peak seasons.
  • Minimum 1 year of Health Information Management experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort with phone, fax machine, printers, and office equipment.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Detail‑ and quality‑oriented mindset for accurate and compliant medical records.
  • Strong data entry skills.
  • Independent work ability with minimal supervision, responding to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Presentation skills for small group settings.
  • Forward‑thinking and problem‑solving ability.

Bonus Points If

  • 2+ years of Health Information Management experience.
  • Professional meets or exceeds company’s productivity standards.
  • Previous production/metric‑based work experience.
  • In‑person customer service experience.
  • Ability to build relationships with on‑site clients and customers.
  • Comfortable bringing new ideas, process‑improvement suggestions, and feedback to stakeholders.
