Summary
The Concrete Testing Technician, based in Caledon, Ontario, supports specialized projects across Central and Southern Ontario by performing field testing, inspection, and sampling of concrete and related materials. Reporting to the Quality Manager or Field Supervisor, this role is essential in ensuring compliance with quality standards across project sites.
Primary Scope of Role- Field inspection and testing of concrete.
- Field testing to include sampling and coring of concrete.
- Thermocouple temperature monitoring, installation and data collection.
- Assist in proper care, control and maintenance of the testing equipment.
- Follow all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
- Complete field inspection reports and pour summaries as per company policies and/or contract requirements and advise supervisors plus site staff of any non‑conformances and deviations.
- Perform other duties as instructed.
- Post‑secondary education in a 2‑ or 3‑year college program such as Civil / Construction Engineering or equivalent program is an asset but not required.
- CCIL or ACI concrete certification is preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years concrete testing experience on commercial, industrial or road building projects.
- Able to use and maintain hand and power tools.
- Must have a valid G (or equivalent) driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
- Able to perform heavy lifting >25kg.
- Able to work in a fast‑paced environment in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to travel between projects.
- Must be able to perform shiftwork, including nights and weekends.
- Must be able to work long shifts and extended hours.
- Expected hourly rate: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour. The actual rate will depend on several factors including experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations.
