EYFS Teaching Assistant - Phonics specialism

Axcis is looking for an EYFS Practitioner who has a specialism in Phonics. The position is within a welcoming and well‑resourced primary school in Horwich. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced early years professional to showcase their skills in phonics.
The Role:
You will be working within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS reception level), supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing in line with the EYFS framework. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and school readiness.
- Deliver high‑quality early years phonics schemes of work
- Plan and implement engaging, age‑appropriate learning activities
- Support children’s social, emotional, and academic development
- Monitor, assess, and record children’s progress
- Promote positive behaviour and uphold safeguarding procedures
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents
- Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent recognised by Ofsted)
- Previous experience working within an EYFS setting (school or nursery)
- Strong knowledge of phonics schemes of learning
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
- Paediatric First Aid qualification
- Experience supporting children with additional needs
- Knowledge of phonics and early literacy development
