As the Staffing Coordinator, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and managing the facility schedule to ensure appropriate staff coverage at all times. Under the direction of nursing leadership, you will proactively address staffing needs while balancing resident care requirements, budget expectations, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and manage the nursing department's master schedule to ensure appropriate staffing coverage for all shifts
- Monitor daily staffing levels and adjust schedules based on resident census, acuity, call-offs, vacations, leaves of absence, and other staffing changes
- Coordinate replacement coverage for open shifts by contacting available staff and helping minimize the use of agency personnel whenever possible
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to anticipate staffing needs and proactively address scheduling challenges before they impact resident care
- Maintain accurate staffing records, schedules, reports, and documentation
- Ensure staffing practices comply with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and budgetary guidelines
- Communicate schedule updates clearly and professionally with nursing staff and department leaders
- Support payroll and timekeeping processes as they relate to employee schedules and attendance
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Active Licensed Nurse or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in good standing is strongly preferred
- Previous experience coordinating staff schedules in a skilled nursing, long-term care, or healthcare environment preferred
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple staffing needs in a fast-paced, 24/7 healthcare environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with scheduling software and Microsoft Office applications preferred
