Health Aide – Bonham Domiciliary Program | Sam Rayburn Memorial VAMC | Bonham, TX

Location: 1201 E 9th Street, Bonham, TX 75418

Schedule: Full-time, varied shifts (Sunday–Thursday: 11:30 PM–8:00 AM; Tuesday–Saturday: 7:30 AM–4:00 PM or 3:30 PM–12:00 AM)

About the Role:

JR Enterprise (JRE), in partnership with the VA North Texas Healthcare System (VANTHCS), is seeking Health Aides to provide compassionate, high-quality support to Veterans in the Bonham Domiciliary Program. This role allows you to assist with rehabilitation, mental health care, and daily living activities in a structured, supportive inpatient environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct patient care and support per VA policies and procedures.
Monitor patient behaviors, conduct rounds, and report changes promptly to medical staff.
Facilitate therapeutic and recreational activities for residents.
Assist with patient intake and discharge processes.
Escort residents safely throughout the facility, maintaining a structured, safe environment.
Document care accurately in VA electronic health records (CPRS/VISTA).
Follow infection control, PPE, and safety protocols.
Collaborate professionally with colleagues, supervisors, and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required.
Completion of two years of college/university study (minimum 12 semester hours in courses such as health sciences, nursing, behavioral science, social science, guidance/counseling/teaching, biological sciences, or related fields).
Minimum 1 year experience in direct patient care performing therapeutic and supportive tasks in a rehabilitation or residential treatment program, assisting physicians and other personnel.
Current BLS and/or ACLS certification.
Proficient in English and able to complete VA-mandated training courses.
Must meet VA health, immunization, and testing requirements (TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza, COVID-19, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens).
U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
