Registered Nurse - Bonham Restorative Care

This position is situated within the Nursing Service - Geriatrics and Extended Care (GEC) at the Bonham Community Living Center (CLC), part of the VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS).

The Nurse Restorative Care Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care. The focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction.

Ability to formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments.

Seeks guidance in how to improve care provided to residents and families.

The nurse brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills.

Seeks documentation guidance from the Minimum Data Set (MDS) coordinator to ensure accuracy of the Resource Utilization Group (RUG) score.

The Restorative Care Nurse is accountable to all customers in assuring an effective restorative nursing care program that follows Joint Commission Standards and provides quality age specific health care to residents.

The Restorative Care Nurse will conduct resident assessments related to restorative care and identifies clinical risk factors that are age-specific to care needs, which are essential in developing plans of care for residents with complex needs.

Utilizes critical thinking skills in identifying, prioritizing, and implementing the appropriate treatment techniques to ensure quality care is provided to the resident.

This includes planning, implementing, and evaluation restorative care using VA and community standards for residents in the community living center (CLC).

Pay:

Should operational needs dictate, candidates must be willing to work within other units (including community based outpatient clinics, for example) to assist and support continuation of the provision of care/services.
