Serves as a mentor, model, and coach for all teachers and others (paraprofessionals, tutors, etc.) involved in implementing the program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(Other duties may be assigned.)
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to ensure that ALL students become proficient readers, writers, and problem solvers
- Provide ongoing, systemic professional development to refine and enhance the quality of instruction across the curriculum
- Model "best practice" strategies in content area classrooms
- Assist teachers with whole group or individual assessment
- Analyze key pieces of data (MAP, DRA, etc.), and data collection (anecdotal records, writing samples, district assessments etc.) that will improve the existing curriculum and inform daily instruction
- Help improve instruction by engaging teachers in self-reflective conversations that enables teachers to problem solve on their own practice
- Help improve instruction by participation in the development of explicit, intentional plans for at-risk students (more than two levels behind their current grade placement)
- Support the organization and development of building reading and writing materials collections, professional collections, and other literacy materials required to differentiate instruction
- Participate in and/or coordinate PLC Teams, study groups, and action research teams
- Support principals, parents, and teachers with resources and information about academic development in your school
- Meet monthly with new teachers and with second year teachers three times a year to discuss issues, concerns, and collaborate on solutions
- Serve as a mentor, model, and coach for all teachers and others (paraprofessionals, tutors, etc.) involved in implementing the educational program
- Coordinate and facilitate professional development with the Professional Development Committee's building representatives

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree required, Master's Degree preferred, and a minimum of three years classroom teaching experience.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Teaching Certificate
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before people.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHERSKILLS And ABILITIES
Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
