Pay: $22/hr, depending on experience.
SummaryOperates heavy, off‑road type equipment (drills, loaders, dozers, trucks, service equipment, excavator) typically used in quarry applications and/or provides manual labor at ground level, including welding. The job is outdoors, weather related, involving manual skills, some math and reasoning, and continuous safety applications around heavy equipment. The work is in a safety‑sensitive environment.
SupervisionWorks from general supervision of a foreman on routine duties with standard policies and procedures. Refers problems and questions to the foreman.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
- Knowledge of MSHA rules, training practices, first aid and any other applicable safety rules.
- Services assigned machine before starting operation daily – checks oil levels, hydraulics, coolant and other fluids, visual check of tires and overall machine condition, and ensures safe operation ability.
- Fuels the assigned machine with diesel fuel from storage tanks.
- Operates the assigned machine safely for oneself and fellow crew members, and works efficiently to achieve the highest production rate possible.
- Performs plant maintenance with minor repairs and assists the mechanic.
- Cleans around the plant with shoveling and keeps the work area clean, orderly, and informs the supervisor of any potential problems.
- Assists the mechanic with any breakdowns, hose repairs, welding, or scheduled maintenance on machine, which may include extended downtime and lifting duties.
- Utility and ground crew perform their assigned job and report any discrepancies to their supervisor.
- Submits to random drug testing, as selected, and complies with the Company Drug and Alcohol Policy.
- Maintains dependable and reliable attendance.
Skill in machine operation, maintenance, and safety around other individuals and machines. The candidate must be active, mobile, able to lift 75 pounds, climb 8‑10‑foot ladders, sit for long periods, and coordinate simultaneously three foot‑control pedals while operating controls and steering wheel.
EducationHigh school graduation or equivalent preferred.
ExperienceSix months minimum on smaller loader, dozer or off‑road type machinery preferred.
Physical &Work Environment Requirements
- Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
- Regularly sit, climb, use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 25‑50 lbs as needed.
- Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
- Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
