Role Overview

A Kroger Bakery Clerk creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, encouraging associates to follow suit. The clerk establishes and maintains a safe, clean environment, assists the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals, and ensures quality assurance standards are met.

• Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples and inform customers of specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes.
• Recommend items to meet customer needs.
• Use refrigerators, freezers, ovens, and other equipment according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and baking instructions.
• Measure, mix, and prepare ingredients per recipes.
• Adequately package, label, and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality, review sell‑by dates, and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the manager.
• Know store layout and locate products upon customer request.
• Stay current with advertising broadcasts and seasonal items.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and report discrepancies.
• Maintain proper product temperatures and log maintenance.
• Promote trust and respect among associates and create a welcoming environment.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Report unsafe conditions and incidents to management.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and notify maintenance needs.
• Maintain a positive attitude and comply with safety procedures.
