Job SummaryA Level III Special Education Teacher designs and implements highly individualized instruction for students with diverse learning, social, and behavioral needs. The role requires advanced expertise in developing and modifying curriculum, writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and facilitating behavior intervention plans (BIPs). The teacher manages a student roster, ensures compliance with all IDEA regulations, and facilitates meaningful student progress toward IEP goals.
Strong skills in crisis intervention, data‑driven decision making, and coaching educational associates are essential for success.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Teaching credential/certificate/license for corresponding age/grade level issued by the BOEE
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students
- Experience developing and implementing curriculum
- Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving throughout the classroom
- Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age‑appropriate curriculum
- Ability to collaborate within the school and instructional setting
- Demonstrated desire to be a lifelong learner
- Assess students’ skills and determine their educational needs
- Adapt general lessons to meet students’ needs
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student with the IEP team
- Plan activities that are specific to each student’s abilities
- Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one‑on‑one
- Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress
