Position Details- Position Type: Support Staff/ Special Education Associate

- Location: Boone Middle School
- Assisting students by adapting work
- Monitoring and enforcing social and acceptable behavior
- Implementing health care plans, toileting assistance, academic support
- Assisting students in the cafeteria and other times as required, including getting on and off the bus
- Assisting in crisis situations involving physically aggressive students, including restraining and documentation
- Working with behavior students; trained in CPI and understands rules and protocols for behavior management
- Implementing specialized therapy programs
- Assisting with body positioning and movement strategies to support a student
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No experience required; experience preferred in working with children
- Oral and written communication skills and English language skills
- Interpersonal relations skills
- Computer, keyboarding and word processing skills
- Customer service and public relations skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with interruptions
- Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
- Ability to promote and follow building and departmental policies
- Apply and follow all school district policies and state of Iowa laws
