Schedule:
Day 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Night 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- As Needed - Salary Range: $32.50 - 46.15
The position is responsible for care for families antepartum to postpartum and newborn cares. The expectation is full responsibility for all aspects of care in the Family Birth Center, including care of the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods; mother stabilization; and routine care of the neonate. The RN provides direct patient care in the listed setting and any nursing capacity as needed, and may perform additional duties such as secretarial and housekeeping to ensure efficient department operation and excellent patient care.

Patient Care And Assessment- Assess initial and ongoing patient conditions, incorporating data from the patient, family, and the healthcare team.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans based on assessments and diagnoses.
- Provide direct nursing care, including administering medications, performing treatments, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, post‑discharge care, medication management, and preventative health maintenance.
- Coordinate discharge planning with other healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and revise comprehensive patient care plans.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and team members to ensure a clear understanding of patient status, concerns, and treatment plans.
- Provide organized, concise shift reports for seamless continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, timely patient records, documenting all aspects of the nursing process and ensuring compliance with health care regulations and standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical protocols and patient outcomes.
- Adhere to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standards.
- Continuously enhance nursing knowledge and skills through ongoing education and professional development activities.
- Assist in orientation and mentorship of new staff and students, and supervise nursing personnel as needed.
- Attend, participate in, and complete all required in‑services, mandatory meetings, and education.
- Maintain all licensure/certification requirements for the position.
- Meet all employee health requirements as required by OSHA, state, and Boone County Hospital policies.
- Accept and perform FBC RN responsibilities following orientation and skills checklist as delegated by the unit director.
- Accept other duties as assigned to promote organizational goals.
- Demonstrate and maintain skill proficiency, including updates to skills and equipment use.
- Apply critical thinking, prioritize care appropriately, and intervene on concerning or emergent situations.
- Maintain competence in electronic fetal monitoring and sterile vaginal exams.
- Administer and manage high‑alert medications utilized in this setting.
Basic Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in labor and delivery required.

- Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practice, and ethics.
