JOB FUNCTION:
As a Campus Refrigeration Technician you will monitor, maintain, and repair different types of heating and cooling systems throughout the Fareway Meat & Grocery Boone Campus. Your attention to detail and background in refrigeration technology will help us maintain efficient operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Start up, test and observe systems to ensure proper function for its operating life
* Service & maintain existing systems
* Follow refrigeration best practices, keeping up on industry standards
* Troubleshoot and repair heating and cooling systems of all types and sizes
* Use Computerized Maintenance Management System
* Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Ability to understand technical instructions, written and verbal
* Ability to use various tools effectively and safely
* Excellent communication skills
* Proven ability to work independently
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Electrical and mechanical skills are necessary
* Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities
* Basic math skills are required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Previous experience in industrial or storage type refrigeration settings
* Refrigeration schooling or certifications
* Experience in performing advanced HVAC diagnosis, maintenance, and repair
* Basic plumbing knowledge
* Basic electrical knowledge
* Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems. CARO, CIRO, Operator I, Operator II, Operator III / Technician I, CRST certifications are a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Must be able to climb stairs, climb ladders, bend, kneel, twist, reach, and pull frequently.
* Must be able to lift items more than 50 lbs. occasionally, 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 - 20 lbs. Continuously
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Exposure to varying temperatures depending on building:
* Some jobs occur in room temperature rooms, 60°F - 85°F
* Some jobs occur in refrigerated rooms, 28°F - 45°F
* Some jobs occur in freezer rooms,
-20°F - 0°F
* Some jobs occur in varying ambient outdoor conditions
* Campus warehouses have a noisy and busy environment; employees must always remain alert.
