Monitor for transportation routes

TITLE:
Bus or Van Monitor
REPORTS TO:
Director of Transportation & the Superintendent of Boone Community School District
WORK YEAR:9 Months

PART-TIME: 3-6 hours per student attendance day.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the safe operation of a vehicle transporting students to and from schoolsin accordance with policies and procedures.
Duties include, but are not limited to assuring the safe operations surrounding the transportation of all riders; student management and discipline; and communication with parents/guardians, students and school officials.

EDUCATION AND RELATED

WORK EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience preferred but not required

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both in writing and orally.
• Demonstrated skills with interpersonal relations and teamwork.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and public relations.
• Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving.
• Ability to be flexible in daily scheduling of job responsibilities.
• Advanced skills in cooperation and communication with supervisors and co-workers.
• Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to promote and follow building and departmental policies
• Apply and follow all school district policies and state of Iowa laws.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

• Personal Computer; required at entry
• Child Safety Restraint Systems for School Transportation Vehicals; required at entry
