Position Summary Information
Minimum Qualifications
The Department of Nursing is seeking one or more 9-month positions with the following qualifications:
An earned Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or doctor of nursing practice (DNP) by the time of appointment is required, and a commitment to excellence in teaching compatible with the BCHS mission.
Candidates who are enrolled in a MSN or DNP program are eligible to apply if all degree requirements will be completed by the date of appointment.
Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)
Seeking one or more full-time clinical faculty for the undergraduate BSN program. One-year or more of full-time teaching in an accredited nursing program, experience in clinical and/or didactic instruction and expertise in adult health, mental health, and/or care of women & children.
License/Certification Required
Licensure as a registered nurse in good standing in North Carolina or a compact state; meeting the North Carolina Board of Nursing's requirements for Nurse Educators.
Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Nursing has around 560 students, which includes the pre-licensure BSN, the online RN to BSN, and the online MSN programs with a concentration in nursing education. The BSN, RN to BSN, and MSN programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Department is in the process of developing a new DNP Nurse Practitioner program to begin in fall of 2026.

Appalachian State University's Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS) is transforming the health and quality of lives of individuals, families, and communities through inclusive practices, interprofessional collaboration, and innovation in teaching, scholarship, service, and clinical outreach. The BCHS supports over 3,800 students in nine undergraduate and nine graduate degree programs, organized into six academic departments. The programs are located in Boone in the Holmes Convocation Center and the Leon Levine Hall of Health Sciences, the cornerstone of Boone's Wellness District.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate's responsibilities may include teaching in the classroom, clinical settings, simulation, or online in any of the degree programs offered in the Department of Nursing. Teaching may include supervision of capstone projects. In addition, responsibilities include engaging in scholarly, creative activities that promote professional growth and enhance teaching/professional competence; integration of evidence-based practices in the classroom and clinical settings;
service on committees and participation in official activities of the Department, College, and University, among others. There are no on-line only teaching positions within the Department of Nursing.
