Tenure‑track, 11‑month contract position (full time, 1.0 FTE). The successful candidate will be hired with tenure at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and will be appointed to an appropriate academic department within the College of Arts & Sciences.
Minimum Qualifications- A Ph.D. or equivalent is required.
- Eligibility to work and live in the U.S. is required.
- VISA sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.
- Record of teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate for the rank of Associate or Full Professor in at least one of the following areas:
Judaic Studies, Holocaust Studies, Genocide Studies, or Peace Studies. - Demonstrated record of active scholarship, fundraising, community engagement, administrative competence, and engaged teaching.
- Academic specialization consistent with the Center's mission:
Genocide Studies, Jewish Studies, Peace Studies, Holocaust Studies.
- Direct and lead the Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies at Appalachian State University, strengthening tolerance, understanding, and remembrance.
- Teach one course per semester and receive reassigned time for research.
- Sustain constructive relationships with Center stakeholders and lead fundraising efforts in cooperation with University Advancement.
- Organize and run the Summer Holocaust Symposium.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. - No ABD consideration – only candidates with an earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution will be considered.

Applicants who are ABD with evidence of successful dissertation defense may be considered for a one‑year fixed‑term contract at the rank of Instructor, with potential return to assistant professor status upon degree verification. Qualified ABD candidates will not be considered for the tenure‑track position.
