Appalachian State University Libraries seeks a Research Data Librarian and Institutional Repository Manager to support the University’s growing research and creative activities through expert guidance in research data management and stewardship of Appalachian State’s Institutional Repository (IR), OpenAIR. This faculty role provides campus-wide expertise in managing, analyzing, and preserving research data while enhancing the visibility and long-term impact of Appalachian State’s scholarly output.
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a master’s degree in library science from an accredited institution or an equivalent advanced degree. They should possess a demonstrated ability to teach, evidenced through prior experience in instruction, training, or the facilitation of learning activities. Additionally, applicants must provide evidence of their ability to conduct research or engage in other relevant creative activities.
Additional areas of interest include working knowledge of institutional and digital repositories; knowledge of trends, standards, and emerging practices in research data management, metadata, institutional repository platforms, scholarly communication, and research impact metrics; familiarity with basic copyright, licensing, intellectual work publication; understanding of scholarly publishing in higher education and funder data sharing requirements (e.g., NSF, NIH); strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where responsibilities may shift based on organizational needs.
The salary range is $65,000 - 69,134 for assistant professor and $75,000 - 90,000 for associate professor. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
