Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology

Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology (Tenure Track)

Position Summary

The Department of Psychology offers a tenure‑track assistant professor position in Clinical Psychology. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research, supervising students, and providing service to the department and community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or PsyD from an APA‑accredited doctoral program with a specialization in Clinical Psychology (including combined clinical programs).
  • ABD candidates acceptable if the degree will be completed by the start of appointment.
  • License or license‑eligible as a psychologist, Health Service Provider in North Carolina through the NC Psychology Board.
  • Evidence of successful research, quality publications, and potential for external funding.
Areas of Interest
  • Clinical and/or research experience relevant to children and adolescents or rural communities.
  • Interest in teaching cognitive assessment.
  • Completion of an APA/CPA‑accredited internship.
  • Clinical supervision experience.
  • Teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels (typical load: three courses per semester).
  • Maintain a productive research program, including peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research, foundational projects and dissertations.
  • Seek external funding (research, workforce development, outreach, student funding).
  • Provide professional service to the program, department, university, community, and discipline.
