Varies based on course schedule (maximum five courses per academic year). Number of Months per Year:
9. Hiring Range:
Three credit hour course: $3,588 per course for masters level and $3,987 for a PhD.
Position Summary/Department:
Housed within the Beaver College of Health Sciences, the Department of Social Work at Appalachian State University is guided by an overarching framework of social and economic justice. The mission of the Department of Social Work is to educate professional social workers who actively work towards a sustainable and just society. We partner with Appalachian and global communities to advance social, economic, and environmental justice for all people.
The undergraduate (BSW) and graduate (MSW) programs are designed to assist competent generalist social work practice within the distinct Appalachian culture of the region and across national and international contexts.

- Minimum:
Master’s in Social Work (MSW) and at least two years post‑master’s experience. - Preferred:
Experience in teaching in higher education. - Preferred:
Expertise in Research, Social work in Communities and Organizations, Practicum Seminar, and Advanced Practice with Individuals and Families.
