The Health Care Management program began in 1972 and has been continuously certified by AUPHA since 1984. With over 1,400 graduates, the program offers a strong network of professionals working in health systems, physician practices, senior care organizations, and other health care organizations throughout North Carolina and the nation. Appalachian State University also offers an online Master of Health Administration degree that began in the fall of 2016 and is introducing a new online Health Care Management program for adult learners in fall 2024.
The program is located within the Beaver College of Health Sciences (BCHS).
Primary instructional duties may include an introduction to healthcare systems, healthcare finance, healthcare law and ethics, human resources, leadership, and quality management in an online or face‑to‑face format at the undergraduate or graduate levels. Successful applicants will demonstrate a focus on teaching excellence in both traditional and online environments. Instructional duties may involve a teaching load of up to six credit hours of online courses per semester.
Undergraduate online courses follow shortened 8‑week terms, and instructors are required to engage with students online on a regular basis, as defined by course material. The position may also require teaching in online format.
Master’s Degree in Health Administration, MBA, or related degree.
Preferred Qualifications- Teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: introduction to healthcare systems, healthcare finance, healthcare law and ethics, human resources, leadership, and quality management in online or face‑to‑face format at the undergraduate or graduate level.
