The primary purpose of this position is to provide furniture installation, inspection, repairs and removal; public area safety inspections; furniture and material deliveries; completion of work orders; recycling; escorting contractors; maintaining accurate and complete records; and operating vehicles that perform a variety of tasks.

• Furnish installation, inspections, repairs, and removal in residential and non-residential areas.
• Conduct residence hall public area safety inspections.
• Deliver furniture and materials to residence and non-residence halls.
• Complete assigned work orders from the University Housing work order system.
• Maintain beds in student rooms.
• Recycle and manage special projects.
• Monitor outside contractors.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Operate vehicles that perform a variety of tasks, ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled.
• Perform snow removal during the winter months.
• Manage quarterly filter changes of residence hall PTAC units.
• Maintain housekeeping equipment through preventative and responsive upkeep.
• Oversee pest control contracts and address minor pest control concerns.
• Assist with laundry machine maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required License/Certification:

• Valid NC driver’s license.
• Forklift operator certification (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least one year of experience in building maintenance duties.
• Previous work in a college or university setting.
• Effective communication skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
• Experience in repairing and moving furniture, inventory control, and computer skills.

Type:
Permanent Full-Time Staff.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (weekend work may be required in summer).

Hours:

40 per week. Salary Range: $39,937 – $41,535.
