Job SummaryThe primary purpose of this position is to provide furniture installation, inspection, repairs and removal; public area safety inspections; furniture and material deliveries; completion of work orders; recycling; escorting contractors; maintaining accurate and complete records; and operating vehicles that perform a variety of tasks.

- Furnish installation, inspections, repairs, and removal in residential and non-residential areas.
- Conduct residence hall public area safety inspections.
- Deliver furniture and materials to residence and non-residence halls.
- Complete assigned work orders from the University Housing work order system.
- Maintain beds in student rooms.
- Recycle and manage special projects.
- Monitor outside contractors.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Operate vehicles that perform a variety of tasks, ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled.
- Perform snow removal during the winter months.
- Manage quarterly filter changes of residence hall PTAC units.
- Maintain housekeeping equipment through preventative and responsive upkeep.
- Oversee pest control contracts and address minor pest control concerns.
- Assist with laundry machine maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required License/Certification:
- Valid NC driver’s license.
- Forklift operator certification (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in building maintenance duties.
- Previous work in a college or university setting.
- Effective communication skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of people.
- Experience in repairing and moving furniture, inventory control, and computer skills.
Type:
Permanent Full-Time Staff.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (weekend work may be required in summer).
Hours:
40 per week. Salary Range: $39,937 – $41,535.
